China's TC260 Issues New Security Guidelines for Generative AI Services

On March 1, 2024, China’s National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee (TC260) released the Technical Document on Basic Requirements for Security of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services. Following a public consultation in October 2023, these guidelines outline crucial security measures for implementing generative AI services. Key requirements include security evaluations before data collection, legally binding agreements for commercial data, explicit consent for personal data use, and thorough assessments for critical infrastructure and minor usage. The guidelines aim to address principal risks associated with AI training data and generated content.
